Posted by Ashok Sharda on 05/07/06 at 05:08 AM Yes,'It was a match made in Heaven', a heaven you created by your own ACTION of ascending those invisible hights and striking this 'match' which could fire this hell we are cursed to live because we are born. Yes, LIFE demands and recompense if we can fill it with LIFE.

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 05/07/06 at 05:56 AM There is genius here, my friend! May I add some of my own kindling? POTD, +fav, +fav, +fav
Posted by Rula Shin on 05/07/06 at 04:12 PM This is fantastic! I like it so very much. Indeed how can one be born into sin when choicelessness is what he was born into? Well then we might as well light the match ourselves since inevitably has been premeditatively lit for us hahaha Well revel in the sin that was created before you were because sin is a relative term that just can't be reconciled with any ABSOLUTE concept. I love it, a match made in heaven just burns naturally simply because it IS FLAMMABLE. That's what I saw. My POTD pick.
Posted by Ashok Sharda on 05/07/06 at 04:20 PM Well, your poem has another dimension too which forced me to come back. Well, those whose basic instinct manifests in /meaning knowledge is sinful in the eyes of the man-created-god-created-man, basically a mediocre creation and obviously this God lives in heaven and matches too are created in heaven. Its good to turn the table and ascend to those invisible heights and fire the basic nonsensical concept of the original sin.
Posted by Rula Shin on 05/07/06 at 04:34 PM And what I mean by "IT IS" is that it was MADE to burn, helplessly, because helpless is what we have been made. And then we add to this helplessness by calling it choice and creating myths of inherited sin which has nothing to do with choice hahaha Well, it's a mad mad world, as is this HEAVEN and its keeper who have been created subjectively and labeled objective truths.

Posted by Peter Humphreys on 05/10/06 at 09:40 PM A brilliant little gem. I wonder if all lighters of fires are condemned to the basement? I hope not!

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 05/11/06 at 04:13 PM Quite the clever dichotomy going on here. Clear, simple, straight forward message. Needless to say, the photo, the icing on the cake.
Posted by Karl Waldbauer on 06/03/06 at 07:58 AM No nonsense metaphysics (to coin a phrase) The power you put in such a simple action is a wonder. Congratulations for POTD.

| Posted by Michelle Angelini on 06/03/06 at 08:19 PM Jill, Congratulations on POTD! The stark clarity of your words combined with the double entrendre create a powerful impact. The photo helps the poem's image, but even without it, your words impact a heart.

| Posted by Frankie Sanchez on 12/11/07 at 08:55 PM i was reminde of a quote: "Someday after mastering winds, waves, tides and gravity, we shall harness the energies of love, and then, for the second time in the history of the world, man will discover fire." - Teilhard de Chardin /// well done. this is so simple and yet so vividly truthful...

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 07/29/10 at 12:12 PM what better match is given one than the one you've stricken. given this ode is fifty stories tall, such height would have sufficed to touch the sky even if you had not reached as far as you could.
