"wait!WAIT!"

by Rula Shin

"WaitÂ… WAIT!"
I call upon him,
"Narrow is the way,
The going very stiff!"
"Wait!" I beg again,
Knowing he will never wait
And 'never wait' is what I truly want

His ‘thrust’ is invariably on the ‘move’
For Life, he believes, is a trial
Unfolding in continuity, never postponement
"Unfold I must, relentlessly" he insists
Evaluate WE must, but always on the move

"Face the music,"
He calls upon me.
"Become one with the thrusts
As there exists no judge or law
Openly or behind the curtains
That can give us a permanent acquittal"

The IMPACT is intense
In the momentum of this forward force
Hitting the core, moving beyond the known,
Attaining unfathomable depths
As our awareness enhances,
Ascending immeasurable heights

“Conflict is the only way,” he says, “to unity”
“Let's keep moving hand in hand
In this conflict between opposing forces,
Immersed as ONE winning every battle,
Living every friction, ever marching
On this narrow path exploring
Unknown spaces"

The IMPACT is exotically beautiful
In the moment of crying out "wait!"
Knowing the moment waits not
Still, breathlessly I utter, "wait Â…WAIT!"
Though what I mean is "DON'T,"
Experiencing the beauty of this thrust
While relishing the paradoxical fear
Of its anticipation on this narrow path
From Known to Unknown

Author's Note: I think there must be a saying that "Life waits for no one," though many of us seem to be constantly waiting in anticipation of its arrival. But waiting can never culminate in an arrival, but only a postponement of this powerful force, this beauty, this ever moving "THRUST" of LIFE. But as Jesus Christ is said to have uttered, "Narrow is the way." And narrow it must be that leads to LIFE, causing conflict and friction on the way to UNITY. No, there cannot be any waiting, though one who cries out "Wait!" without waiting, may find the moment a thing of great wonder and beauty, experiencing the moment and its anticipation simultaneously and paradoxically, as ONE.

An excellent poem about our relentless journey, whether we want to be a part of it or not. Stanza 4 is my favorite.

Wonderful, Rula. There's a saying, "Time and tide wait for no man," although I'm not sure who said it (maybe Robert Frost?). It's like life - hang on for the ride... ;-)

The path chosen to get to the right destination must be right one. A path that truly takes us there, one that is complete enough to go all the way. There is no point buying a ticket to the right destination and taking the wrong train!

Life is a trial and
“there exists no judge or law
Openly or behind the curtains
That can give us a permanent acquittal"
. What do we do in a situation like this, realizing the horror of the situation?
We face the trial, the music as you say, refusing to postpone life, once we realize what you have realized and expressed here, using your fertile mind and potent writing tool.
”Unfolding in continuity, never postponement….relentlessly" Evaluating every now and then ‘but always on the move’

Can life be postponed, ever ? Will the time WAIT for us to make good in some other time? Is there any TIME BANK, we can deposit time and spend at our leisure? Well, the answer is here. ‘In the moment of crying out "wait!’, Knowing the moment waits not’ Time doesn’t wait nor does the LIFE, walking hand in hand with this ever flowing time. Yes, the impact is intense, the fear of the unknown added by the anticipation of the ‘narrow path’ and the forces just opposite narrowing down this pathless path, instinctively calls upon us to cal upon”..wait…WAIT!….
Knowing “what I mean is "DON'T,"
Experiencing the beauty of this thrust
While relishing the paradoxical fear
Of its anticipation on this narrow path
From Known to Unknown
Yes, the fear becomes the driving force. A force which impells us to WAIT NOT “On this narrow path exploring Unknown spaces"
Attaining unfathomable depths
As our awareness enhances,
Ascending immeasurable heights
Yes, the paradox is not just this inner conflict but also that the path to unity is through this conflict. When one WINS this inner conflict ONE IS. Jesus Christ is also said to have uttered: “Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds.
When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All."
In one word I’d say beautiful.

this poem is ever marching to glory. it is the story or persistence and reflection and it reflects onto and through surfaces that think and feel the spectrum of emotions.

Rula, yesterday when I read this I didn't care for it, today I returned and put it in my favorites list. You have left me in awe of your skill with words and concepts, expressing thoughts on so many levels. This is true verbal beauty. BTW, I agree with Chris' statement about how sexy this piece is. Covered so many aspects of life in this poem. Thank you for providing such a thought provoking experience.

The delicious sense of wanting to prolong the anticipation of the climax - of a story, of a coupling, of a crack of lightning, of one precious moment - just waiting, lingering in the exquisite tension just before the crescendo - and in the same instance, desiring the final rush to be upon us. Rula. Yikes. This is, as your work always is, AMAZING.
