Hanging Rope

by Charles E Minshall

I saw a rope hanging
High up in a tree,
And I thought to myself,
Wow! a climbing rope for me.

I climbed and I climbed
As fast as I could,
But ended up covered
With rope where I stood
.

Charlie, you're usual wonderful humor, with just a bit of philosophy thrown in. In agreement with Mike, there are several interpretations.

Should you find a home-made newspaper kite attached to the end, please send it back so I can call off the search. It was my all-time favorite as is this pile of a poem. pe4ce...

-deep belly chuckles- This is too funny!

Indeed, an analogy of life. Better know that the "rope" is attached and to what before statring to climb. Humor with a lot of philosophy in it!

What a great way to start my morning! I can already hear myself, in some future situation, thinking "this reminds me of a poem I once read." Sweet.

Hey! I logged into the site JUST so I could tell you I saw this as POTD and was delighted (as always). This deserves to be illustrated in a children's book :)

LOL! As long as it didn't end up tight around your neck as I first imagined this poem would be about.

Man, this speaks to me. Sometimes I climb and climb on a rope I don't even fully see, and end up back where I started... all covered with the effort of climbing but having gone I know not where. Great poem Chaz.
