Memories of You: Part II

by Gavin M Roy

A garage full of tools, solutions to any problem
your workshop lay in wait of all things broken
I sneak in and look around in amazement
As with your voice and presence, this room is you
Always fixing, always giving, no expectations of reciprocation
fixer of problems, solid foundation, we always relied upon you

Worthy tribute to what sounds like your father, or even many fathers Gavin.

Yes, this is evocative of my father and grandfather both. Nice memories here.

More than a bit nostalgic, tender and loving. Appreciation brightly illuminated.

Gavin, this is wonderful - I read Part I today and it inspired one of my poems. I hope there are more in this series. Yes, Suzanne, do read Part I.

Beautiful tribute Gavin.

I preferred this part - it feels as though there is, or could be, more here than is overtly expressed, particularly in that first line (though that's probably just my tortuous mind at work with metaphors and analogies :)
Either way, a reassuring and atmospheric read.

Great memories of my father bubbled up... a table of gratitude for HIS giving, those countless days he got up in the dark to trek off to the plant... moments I took for granted. Your poem, especially reference to tools are very poignant for me. Thank you.

Again ... that was my father ... when he died I spent hours upon hours in his workshop feeling him there. Great pieces of memories!
