Memories of You: Part I

by Gavin M Roy

Morning dew fresh like a blanket
Clouds of breath escape into the brisk air
you and i sit in silence, a generation apart
as I leaf through a mildewed Readers Digest
my miniature hunting rifle lay next to yours

Sounds like a series developing here. Powerful poetry in the mention of a generation apart and in that highly visual closing line. Well done!

Ahh, I've raised the first generation and am now sharing these moments with my first grandson. A perfect picture caught with these words:o)

A sense of comfortableness, of relaxation, of understanding between the generations comes through this concise but powerful poem.

nostalgically pleasing verse here... blessings...

When I read this excellent poem, I flipped back to the picture of you and your child. Perhaps one day you'll be fortunate enough to be the subject of a "memory" poem...and the circle goes around and around.

The memory seems as fresh as that dew and the last line spins my imagination about a special relationship that must have been forming with your grandfather. Well done, Gavin.
