Posted by Maureen Glaude on 11/08/04 at 12:32 PM this is so moving, I never imagined it was based on a picture and not a truth. Perhaps a truth, from life knowledge and experience around you? When I was very ill and my mother used to say why not me instead, I hated that, somehow. For it wouldn't have made me feel better to see her in my situation, her life was and is just as valuable to me, and we don't get to know all that, do we? But it's a genuine feeling of someone who feels their life is of lesser quality by then for whatever reason. Incredible work, and photo. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 11/08/04 at 07:24 PM I like this a lot Glenn. I'd have to say one of your recent best and a new favorite of mine to be added to my favorites list. Photo provides perfect accompanyment; hat's off to Wendy. |

Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 11/23/04 at 01:19 PM Gripping! A thought provoking take on Job.
Very effective use of illustration with poem. The glimmer of hope in the last line softens the harshness of the despair expressed. |
Posted by Charles J Hannan on 11/25/04 at 05:42 AM The poem really unfolds the mystery of the picture...very well written! |
Posted by Michelle Angelini on 11/26/04 at 06:01 PM Beautiful. The title drew me to the poem. The picture added emotional dimension, and the words touched my heart, because I've wondered about the very same thing. And everything is coordinated with the gentle psalmist-like touch. Adding it to my favorites. |
Posted by Melissa Arel on 11/28/04 at 01:56 AM WoW.. this is incredible! You've mastered word, feeling & emotion here.. I stand in awe & amazement! Bravo! |
Posted by JD Clay on 01/24/05 at 10:40 PM This is one of the most sorrowful, guilt-ridden poems I have ever read, Glenn. A great presentation from start to finish. I can't help wonder why the first line of the last two stanzas are not separated like the others. Pe4ce... |
