my mommy

by Michele Schottelkorb

i look into a light reflection

dipping my toes into a pool of water

the image staring back at me

is my life force ~ my standing grace

my mother

same nose, same heart

peace has come to my soul

from this brief interlude

a simple smile, a genuine embrace

and the words: “i love you”

i shall remember you, mommy

every time i look at my daughter

Oh my, *fans away the tears*. Very touching. I hope you shared this with her? Beautiful dedication. :)

Exquisite! A very real sense of loss to this piece, though. Wonderful read.

How beautifully you connect the generations here in a moment of grace-filled recognition.
