Helpless I watch them, Ironically.

by Ashok Sharda

There is a space

Out there

Over flowing with vibrations

I have association with

Within.

There are people

Out there

And places

Sounds

Shapes

And colors

And objects

I have association with

Within.

There are thoughts

And thoughts

Associated with thoughts

Associated with the people

And places

Sounds shapes and colors

And objects

I have association with

Within.

How do I stop reacting to the

Onslaught

Of these vibrations

When my senses are

Ever receptive to one

And all?

How do I stop

Those various ‘I’s’ from appearing

Disappearing and reappearing

Energized by those association

Associated with the people

And places

Sounds shapes and colors

And objects

And thoughts

Associated with the thoughts

Pushing me aside

All the time

Claiming to be

ME.

Ironically, I watch them so helplessly

In order to BE.

You can't stop it. That is what is so beautiful about it, eh? The struggle is the journey. Wonderful tautology, beautifully applied. Thank you, Ashok. Heart, star

This makes me ponder on the many connections we have in our lives~with technology and transportation, so much more than in generations past. No wonder some stay so stressed! Very thought provoking poem!

This seems as if it is a continuation of your "platform" poem. Well written

the part that's really YOU is the watcher, and the way to have him win is to control the focus on the onslaught. this way you will BE but you will not be lost under a barrage of impressions, you can look at them like you do with glasses- you're taking everything in, but only what's through the frames is important and all the peripheries to whatever you're looking at are blurry. it's an interesting poem, you bring up a valid point on this path.

Indeed, how do we be without loosing the me. Good work . --bf

Yes. To separate yourself from the chaos yet still allow it, and yourself, to BE.

Intriguing to say the least. I should have anticipated the twist at the end. This is pure Ashok! :) A bit of alliteration moves this along.

Again, you give this old Western mind pause and challenge my social psychology. I guess observing and writing about all those associations limits their intrusion. Thanks yet again for your wisdom, my friend.

Your poems put my mind put in gear. Love the way it challenges my thinking!

Though often it may seem like being overwhelmed by the senses and these vibrations, it is also true that these are some of the things which have helped to fashion the "I" that we have become. I guess it is up to decide which ones to use in a positive fashion and which ones we need to try to shut-out, or mold to fit our designs. Thought provoking as always!

Interesting commentary on how much the outside affects the inside, and ultimately vise versa.

You cant socialize without being socialized. Its almost impossible to just observe things anymore. Darn it.

*softly smiling*... you ask and answer at the same time. And do so beautifly!
