Whims of God

by Max Bouillet

There! Over there! I see an angel in full splendor
this mystic autumn night!
I run to her in carefree abandon and say,
“Come! Let us throw ourselves to the wind and let
the whims of God guide us through this night!”
And then we soar in sudden spiral –fearless of any fall!
We twist and twirl in frolic filled flight!
Up through tickling trees!
Up through playful clouds!
We become the mists above the lakes of fantasy…
we envelope the stars and let the lights of the heavens
shine through our souls until we are finally
consumed in nocturnal passion!

The next morning, I found the whims of God
had carried me to a Wal-Mart in southern New Mexico
with fuzzy bunny slippers dangling from my feet.

And then, at that moment, it all made sense to me.
The joy of life is in the journey –not in the destination.

Author's Note: Okay, some people say that I have been a little too dark lately, so I thought I would try a brighter piece.

The process of life and the process of death walks hand in hand. Its the journey, in the space of time, which counts.Time is the perfect synonym of life and what you have got is just this moment whichh no one can take away from you. Not even the death. The journey IS LIFE and not the destination. Said so brilliantly.

Hi Max, Whims of God, it's good, lovely. Didn't think about God having whims, maybe so. Yes, it's the journey.

you can't get dark enough for me Max. you can express yourself in whatever shade you like and what is a poem that it should not express its darks as well as lights. White would not work as well, but it should be contrasted against a darker background. just me opining.

BWAH HAH HAH! The exclamation marks make a good point (heh), but you KNOW it was the bunny slippers that did me in.

Exceptional work done here, giving us an image of a dream, a fun adventure, and then a dose of reality at the end that's amusing and leaves nice thoughts.

I'm wondering whether you based this piece a lost proverb from a source such as the dead sea scrolls ... biblical wisdom Max ... sure brought a smile to my face!
