PoetTree by Glenn CurrierWhen the lion of anger devours me
I come to you
to find myself
piece by peace.
When teeth of fear seize me
or drools of depression
leach each atom of joy
from my being
I lay beneath you
to regain my ground.
When all is drought
and within is without
I delve your moist loins
and quince my thirst.
I am Artimes
you are Zeus and Diana,
swamp and summit, desert and savannah.
In your arms my Eros speaks
I become Aztecs and Greeks
wolf and arrow
eagle and sparrow.
You are my sinner and my priest
brown and gold, shy and bold
your green is my wealth
your gray is my stealth
I speak you and you speak me
you are my poet tree.
