driftwould

by JD Clay

flotsam strewn about

        the San Clemente shore gave

                notion of a galleon

commissioned by the Queen’s own

        Navy weighed with spice

and gem its silken barter wracked upon

an unforgiving sea

the sparkling sand

every bit as much a poem awash

                in full regalia

Your imagery is magical and spiritual to me. I was once a sailor and the scenes really made me long for the sea once more. Wonderfully written.

Wonderful! The contrast of the ephemera of the the manmade and enduring nature is eloquently drawn.... d:-)

Treasure can be found in many places if one looks for it. I think I just found some here!

Great analogy. White capped and bluish green that poem washes in again and again!

*applauding* Such cleverness in the title, and such an economic yet vivid description!

We can see the beauty of what WAS... but there is beauty in the final rest, too. I so appreciate the respect from which you write.

This has a beautiful feeling to it. The last thought leaves a interesting ending...lovely imagery.

Congratulations for a well-deserved POTD! (btw, I forgot to tell you how much I like the title.)

Congrats with your POTD. Reading all these wonderful comments..I'm thinking that I probabely am the only one who doesn't get it. I have read this over and over again...yet I can't feel it. Now that makes me wonder.

the sea and the sand and the wrecks and treasures twixt the two, and of these provisional ingredients you have made a delightful poet stew.

What I love is the fact that a poet was there to transform the flotssm and make it a feast for me. Great idea and wonderfully painted.

oh my I am glad I found this piece of "driftwould"...magical word maker. I sure know what you are talking about here. I used to walk on the beach every day and find "treasures". I posed them, photographed them and wrote poems to them...my "creatures"...we have a lot in common JD. And you have a beautiful sense of poetry-- the poem strewn in waves on the page mirrors your topic too.
