Hearing Sigur Ros by Bruce W Niedtspare, traveling on thin air
over land of frost and fire
brittle beauty, ready to shatter
any moment, stalactite ice
the voice, a snowflake
turns toward volcanoes
words meaning something
to glaciers and birds
organ chords erupt
rattle cliff-faces,
scrape at black lava rock
bank, swoon and settle
echoes careen off houses
into the harbor, taken up
by boats that fill their sails
with atmosphere 07/02/2003 Author's Note: [Inspired by listening to "( )", the starkly beautiful CD by Icelandic band Sigur Ros.]
