Outside The Wall by Kate DemereeI stand outside your walls Built so thick and strong There are others, who seek me But my heart so longs for you I cant get in, no way for me to win The love I view, and it hurts Because all I ever wanted was you. So I will sit awhile here in the shade Of this wall you have made, Rest awhile, water the flowers With my tears, sort through fears Dream of what could be If you would only let me, in Love may chance this way again And I will stay awhile, Offering a smile and heart I would wait forever if there were one Tiny chink in that wall One crack, one glimpse of daylight Without it
someday I must take flight once more Heart raw, sore
blooded hands from searching For a way in, I will move on, and love again.

Posted by Agnes Eva on 06/04/03 at 06:32 PM strong imagery of a love that gives nothing in return, a person not worth loving, even if you had an army to break down the wall |
Posted by Melissa Arel on 06/06/03 at 12:49 PM I agree with the others comments. Great rhyme and feeling in this one. :) |
Posted by Ken Harnisch on 06/08/03 at 03:31 AM i've got to add a man's voice to this trio of comments and say i agree..it is not good to pine for someone who will not or cannot love you, and let a beautiful soul grow cobwebs on the shelf |
Posted by Max Bouillet on 06/08/03 at 07:24 AM The comparison to gardening is quite good. The nurturing required for anything to grow takes toil and time... well done on this piece. |
Posted by David R Spellman on 06/08/03 at 06:09 PM Some walls take longer than others to come down and others are assualted with futile effort. Hopefully in time we are able to judge whether or not it is worth the effort. A wonderful piece Kate. |

Posted by Alex Smyth on 06/11/03 at 09:37 PM Well, if everyone had the general consensus as these commentors, no Damsel would ever have been rescued from their towers, no Beast ever redeemed by a Beauty. I love the romance of it! |

came tumbling down. Good poem.....Charlie |
