Honey - Dusted Flesh

by Ken Harnisch

Honey-dusted flesh; honey-coated words

I get both from you, when perhaps some

Lesser light needs to be shining; it is absurd

To think we can go on in heat and drum

Up enthusiasm for love and lust

In equal complement, when maybe we

Need more subdued affections that I trust

Will speak a softer truth, or two, or three,

On nights when no music has to be played

For us to enjoy loveÂ’s true symphony

We can sit here on this couch or be splayed

And still be as in love as weÂ’ll ever be

Two people who did not need a device

To find their way in bed, or break the ice

excellent poem, the sonnet form is completely overtaken by your word crafting- you master it and use it to its advantage here

Truly touching, and universal.

I never enjoyed writing sonnets.. my thoughts always seem to get lost while I'm trying to master the form. You did an excellent job though of making this flow! Loved it... and the title works exceptionally well!
