Ashes

by Rhodora M Fitzgerald

You make me feel
like the cigarette
that you fumble for
in a compulsive fit.

You deeply inhale me
until I fill your void
and then,
when I am reduced
to nothing more than a butt,
you snub me out
and leave me smoldering.

Author's Note: lol.. I have no idea where this one came from.

Gosh, Rho...have you been a fly on my wall or what? LOL Excellent imagery.

Very strong analogy! Maybe title could be "Butt or Assh"?

Sounds as if you need some extinguishing after that one, Rhodora. I liked it! Jack :)

Ditto on James' comment. Yes indeed, superb use of metaphor. Tightly rolled message!

Smokin!! Great analogy.

where ever it came from, it came to the right place, to mull over and over and to simply enjoy its implication.
