an ode to... well, me. (or, so i thought)

by Andrew S Adams

on the surface, a smile.
on the inside, an enigma.
on the good days, smooth sail
on the bad days, a trainwreck.
on the mondays, a tired drone.
on the fridays, alive and not alone.
on the all, i'd say okay.
on the now, a good day.
on the off chances that happen,
it could all go down the drain.

on my tounge, the bite of words.
on my mind, the days of good.
on one hand, i'm stable.
on the other hand, my nails are black.

and in my arms,
your sillouhette.
your presence.
your love.

i can never stay on the topic of me
without coming back to you.

Author's Note: this poem was interesting to write; i truly was trying to write an egotistical self centered poem here; it is purely on accident that it twisted itself into what it is at the end.. lol

I particularly like the closing line--very almost innocently perceptive.

Love the originality of the first stanza and the unexpected closure in the last. Witty stuff!

The repetition really works in this piece.. its consistency holds it together. Overall you have mastered this well :)

'on one hand, i'm stable/ on the other hand, my nails are black' makes me feel silly- but i laughed out loud. i truly missed your poetry. glad to know one of us didn't stop writing. mel
