I think I’ve had enough

by Philip F De Pinto

Of being awake
Things never seem
To work out for me
In that state
A state which I can’t shake
Given the insomnia
Which has me lying on my back
Staring at the fissure
In the ceiling

Which yells down
Hey you!
What in tarnation
Are you staring at?
Ain’t you ever seen a crack?

I yell back up
Hell I’ve seen plenty!
But never one that could talk
Which I am never tempted to caulk
Given I’d have no one
To talk to at three in the morn

Insomnia is the worst, but your poem is delightful.

Love the light humorous approach to this topic. Personally, now that I'm retired, I sleep so much during the day, I'm often up at much if not all hours of the night.

You could always talk to the 2 visitor(s) that are miraculously always online here. It would seem they face similar challenges. They might demand a different type of caulk though, based on my cursory knowledge of niche internet lurkers. Be safe, FDePinto.
