Fiona

by Chris Sorrenti

Was a time
hurricanes and tornados
were the stuff of
southern nightmares
not so any more

The latest
storm of the century
arrives in Atlantic Canada
packing 180km winds
everywhere looks like
a war zone
military called in

Harkens me back
to when mom
was a teenager
caught alone
in an apartment
in Toronto
during Hurricane Hazel

And after
whenever a strong wind
would blow
she was never
the same again

Yeah, I don't usually think of hurricanes up there. Sounds really bad. I hope all are well in the face of this destruction.
