In one sense
they seem so distant now
these angels with mortal wings
flown far away
some even to Heaven
from where they still guide me
in becoming a better man

How each in her own way
at one time
lit up my life - my soul
with beauty and wisdom
filled the hours
with her essence
when too often now
there is only void

Important lessons learned
from a multitude of interactions
and though there may never be
another like them
I will carry the few always
in my heart
with this simple valentine to
those angels with mortal wings
who showed me the way
