This Birthday

by Chris Sorrenti

Tis a strange one
this birthday
too quiet
and yet not enough
calm after the storm
covid-19
under a grey
ghostly sky
another eve
of Halloween
little to no traffic
heard on the roads
internet
radio and TV
left purposely in bed
as if other than myself
the world too
has stopped
to catch its breath
while tonight
for the first time
in how long
I’ll order Chinese

Sounds good to me!

That first line really defines a lot of how I think about our "now." I hope you had a good birthday and got that Chinese food ordered, delivered, and enjoyed.
