Wow, you can really Dance!

by Johanna May

Squints like Clint Eastwood
at me, instead of whining.
All training wheels off,
no chance to tell him,
the world is not all soft
Spiderman bandaids around
is a certainty until he’s forty.
Those youtube mama bears:
How to sharpen your cub’s claws
on the barks of what tree.
Kids have that light
evil fails to pass through-
I tell myself everyday.
I still want him to learn jujitsu.

Time is a bandit,
faster than dunking Oreos,
and counting sheep.
Here and now
is what I have
instead of clocks.
Here and now
is what I have
instead of riches.
And because of him,
here and now
is all I ever want.

Heartwarming well worded expression, to your son I take it?

I can feel his energy and fearlessness through your words and your determination to enjoy every minute. Love it.
