Asleep Awake by Chris Sorrenti
A walk outside
welcome relief
when there’s no escape
from highs and lows
excited drudgery
and in-between
Asleep Awake
Eat and Sex
two hungers
that must be quenched
the rest just
window dressing
interests and hobbies
soon lose their luster
played night and day
day and night
when there’s no escape
Awake Asleep

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 04/18/21 at 11:03 PM A neat sort of looping to this intensity, enjoyed the oxymoron of "excited drudgery," lots of effective back and forth in this one, Chris. Thanks! |
