400 Candles

by Chris Sorrenti

Four-hundred candles
stand at attention
reflecting pool lined
each one flickers
a thousand lives snuffed out
by a mindless killer
loved ones forced to depart
before their time
leaving those left to ponder
how many more candles
must stand beside them
before this war is finally won

Your poem reminds me of a candle shape. I like this a lot, Chris. Thanks.
