Vocation Vacation

by Chris Sorrenti

I could get used to this
not writing poetry
keeping the pages and
computer screen
squeaky clean
like Paul McCartney’s
band on the run
they would never find me
if I didn’t want them to
disappear off the Internet
completely
but couldn’t be long
the Mrs. (Muse)
would be nagging
now Chris
you once said that
you’d always love me
boo-hoo boo-hoo

I could get used to this
not writing poetry
but then what on Earth
would I do?
the hour grows late
for me to start a new hobby
or vocation
guess I’ll just have to settle
for the occasional vacation
to keep me and the Missus
healthy and happy
safe from too much
self-abuse

Catchy title. A lighter tone here which is fun to read. Amusing to think of you and the "Mrs." on vacation. Just make sure you keep away from those crowded beaches. LOL
