Garbage day
On Winter’s doorstep again
In Ontario
The curve might be peaking
Back to boots
Don the ear muffs
Ski jacket and scarf
Zip up
Thankfully only
Cardboard recycling
Green bin
Food waste and kitty litter
Looks like Spring
With frequent sunny skies
The thermometer says otherwise
Rarely going into double digits
Negative temperatures at night
But the cold no longer bothers me
And as someone recently remarked
Maybe Nature’s way
Of helping us social distance

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 04/22/20 at 04:04 PM Good one, Chris. I thought for sure this would be something about Earth Day, so when I saw those first two lines I had to chuckle (at self). Nice piece leading to those two great last lines. |
