Riddler by Chris Sorrenti
He speaks to us in riddles
most romantic, seductive, sublime
some easier to decipher
than others
and though we cheer him on
for his brighter moments
as all riddlers
we soon grow weary of
his underlying calculations
especially when he tantrums
at us not kissing his feet
sorry pal, toe jam
doesn’t make for good marmalade
dare we show this riddler
he’s only a joker?
a shiny but bent card
better left at
the bottom of the deck

Posted by Angela Stevens on 02/25/20 at 08:45 PM This made me smile. Especially the lines 'sorry pal, toe jam
doesn’t make for good marmalade'. I am hyper sensitive so can relate to the subject of the poem but also realise that constructive criticism is great too :) |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 02/25/20 at 08:59 PM Ha! Good one. I was around then so, of course, am curious about the "who." ?? We've had some interesting personalities sail through our waters here, for sure. Thanks, Chris. |
