TAC Woods

by Brian Francis

To sit among the trees at Santa Paula Creek
And hear the discourse of young thoughts unfolding
The passions of their discovered realities mingle
Debate tickles the mind causing one to join in
To remember the journey taken so long ago.
When the realization of the unfathomable
Being little more than the unknown, unvisited
Discoveries, realizations at the turn of every page
learning how to think instead of what to think
Tearing down the façade of our beliefs long-held
And analyzing each stone for its value in truth
Discarding all of the useless flawed pieces
building our essence with the truths revealed
solid and strong, mortared with logic; binding
Ordered and syllogistic as Aristotle once taught

Murmuring trees, babbling brooks, the patter of raindrops; a commune to consign thoughts to silence. Whatever your TAC, I follow the revival, or inference without interference.

Such an intelligent interaction/exploration going on here. Enjoyable vocabulary, memories of this process, leading one to believe there is good to result from this.

"learning how to think instead of what to think" Man I wish I had had a lot more of this learning. I pretty much had to navigate the process on my own. And you finish with the words: "Aristotle once taught" having also spoken of syllogisms. That brings back so many memories. I had to read Aristotle in Latin - such a rigidly structured language for a boy from Pasadena, Texas. Thanks for this evocative piece, Brian.
