M o r n i n g by Johanna May
Early yet
Dark smothering sleepily still
Over a few blinking lights outside
There is a respectful quiet
Even from cars purring by
Instead of roaring
Dreams hover, insists in confusing
With their random vagueness
The last strains of lavander
Puffs up from disheveled blankets
The cat asks a plaintive question
I said: yes, I'm awake.
