Farewell Noble August

by Chris Sorrenti

Can you hear them?
Angels migrating
Upon the whisper
Of Fall’s coming thunder

Filled to the gunnels
In actions and words celebrating
Yet another bountiful harvest
Excursion around the Sun

As they sound the clarion
“Farewell noble August
Once more you have delivered
The golden grail”

While mortal muse
But a General in female forces
Shouts confidently with sisters
By her side

“Take no prisoners my love
And Damn the torpedoes!
Full speed ahead!!!”

Love that first stanza, really sets this fine piece up with sound and a BIG presence.
