Place Me in that Bottle

by Thomas K. Hunt

Place me in a bottle and toss me in the river
let the journey begin
It's tradition to wave as you pass me by
I'll just bob back my friend
You don't have to tell anyone
Go on and have some fun
Put me in a bottle and send me on my way
You couldn't do that to me yesterday

I wasn't ready but everything comes to an end
Now there's a party for my family and friends
Yesterday I watched the sun come up
Look at me today, I ran out of luck
I'm in this bottle and the journey's begun
I'm golden, I hope you all had fun

If you're curious scoop me out and look inside
I'm all there I have nothing to hide
It's alright to leave me a note
Drop it in and close me up and put me afloat
Place me in that bottle and toss me in the river
let the journey begin
I've missed the river most of my life
now I'll be one within

I'll survive the winters frozen in the ice
waiting for the spring too loosen everything
Spending an eternity drifting with time
Place me in that bottle I'll be just fine
Put me in a bottle and toss me in the river
let the journey begin
Maybe you will and maybe you won't
I'm just sayin you might not see me again

I've been picturing my end for all of my days
Secure within my bottle traveling the sea-way
Not lost but found by boaters old and young
on the river and lost within their fun
Place me in a bottle and throw me in the river
It's the journey I've been living for
I'll flow with the river through the seasons of life until the river flows no more
