HOPE?

by George Hoerner

AND WHAT ABOUT
HOPE?
ONCE FORGOTTEN
WHAT HAPPENS

LIFE GOES ON
UNLESS WE END IT

WE STILL GET UP
WE ALLOW OURSELVES
TO FUNCTION SOMEHOW

PEOPLE MAY ONLY
RECOGNIZE MORE
SILENCE FROM US
MAYBE EVEN MENTION IT
AS IF OUR MINDS
WERE THINNKING
OR TRYING NOT TO

OUR MINDS WILL STILL
SEE THINGS AROUND US
AND TEND TO IGNORE PEOPLE
NOT OUT OF DISTASTE
MORE LIKE INDEFFERENCE

THAT WILL REPLACE
HOPE
AND WE WILL JUST
GO ON

Certainly sad to think how indifference can become a norm and replace something as vital as hope. A thoughtful poem, George, thank you.

Hope is simply another color to squeeze on our palette, to mix and mingle with all the other colors. Like Thalo Blue, it is a powerful hue, so a little dab will do us. Ultimately, Hope, is yet another useful tool to use against the void’s encroachment. Beautifully stated and written, my friend.
