Baby Steps

by Chris Sorrenti

in the beginning
that’s all there was
the yearn to grow up
leaving time at a crawl
then walk learned to run
run became drive
and drive led to fly
the hands of all clocks
moving faster and faster
till years had flown by
exhaustion set in
leaving fly no choice
but return to drive
and then run
run become walk again
steps getting shorter
till slowed to a crawl
though the hands of all clocks
still spinning
faster and faster

On man, can I relate! Right down to the baby steps. I never piloted an aircraft, but have ventured the stratosphere right here on these pages - pages containing a poetic chronicle of your growth. I once said to someone that I could not would not write a biography but if one read my poems over the years the phases of my life would be revealed. Thanks for your revelations, Chris.
