Atomic love

by Patricia J Reed

Love is not human
Our souls are put together
With bits of
Shattered matter
Atoms of stars
The dust
Of a long gone planet

You are yourself
An entire universe

Love is the joining of atoms
Exhilarated by their
Awareness and approximation
Of seeing each other again

I think this poem works just the way you have presented it here and says what it has to say although I understand that one can shape it more to one's liking or have the poem say more or less what it is saying now but in a slightly different way.

"you are yourself and entire universe" loved these lines. That first line makes me question all kinds of ideas about what is human and our place in the cosmos.
