Simply Saturday by Chris Sorrenti
means
favourite day of the week
no fuss no rush
all clocks can be partially ignored
leaving the house
purely arbitrary
Colombian caffeinated morning
glued to the computer
electronic invitations
to family and friends
till midday chicken noodle
leisurely encounter with shower
fresh razor blade -
a personal custom
then off to buy rib eyes
taters and greens
that mandatory bottle of wine -
another custom
horizontal exercise on the couch
to pleasant movie surprises
or turntable vinyl trips
down memory lane
despite laughter from children
born into the CD age
later
happily preparing eats
at a snail’s pace
milking that same bottle of wine
to sup heartily
with friends and family
conversational catch ups
till wee hours
confident of tomorrow’s sleep in

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 10/27/17 at 04:31 PM You've painted a relaxed, inviting scene here, Chris. There is a feeling of freedom to do whatever, whenever that permeates this like a finely steeped cup of my hot tea. Thanks for this. |
