Parenting by George Hoernerwhich word did
you learn first
from a parent
or sibling
“No! or Bad!”
feeling the tone
and quickly knowing
the threat of abandonment
of losing the love
the only thing saving
you from starvation
from endless loneliness
original sin enacted
by a parent unknowingly

What else is there to be? Less than that vocation is to unleash cruelty and lavish misunderstanding upon the world. |

Posted by Rob Littler on 04/24/17 at 05:15 AM True we often forget to tread lightly as parents, we indulge our lesser selves, we may even, some of us, lose complete control of our lives, let alone the lives of our kids. We do unspeakable damage, some of us. Not me. Not you. But somebody does, or did, or has, or will, or is. |
