Altered tastes

by Laura Doom

I have a dread, fessed and fed
by a willfully misquoted theme
La Scala's immoderated medium
ravaged by a law of averages
that renders the ordinary
meaningfully mean, a clean machine
giving headlines a hard rhyme
taking ridicule to the sublime.

Drive-by time
on the scenic route
of all that is vile
in the videophile
like low-risk roads
stretching back
to a new status quo;
designer sex and cyber drugs
and fifty shades of grime.

To love or hate the haters
deals a triumph to the gladiators
music to the masturbators
orchestrating automation
of quasi-intelligent classification;
faction as a vulgar fraction
fiction as a source of friction
that looms beyond divisible gloom
as the elegant sycophant in the room.

This is just jam packed with what I read and view each day in this insane post election interminable era (dare I say apoplectic scene). I feel slam, I hear rap. I really love the flow of S2 and especially "fifty shades of grime."

Catchy word combos and twists of familiar as in the title identify this as another kill for a poetic ace and worthy addition to her/your repertoire.

This is pretty tight. I like the rhyme scheme and how it hits on cultural notes.

To love or hate the haters
deals a triumph to the gladiators

and quietly all the houses are gone but the huffandpuff goes on!

"Sadly, you've been chopped, Gladiator Barry."

I love the flow your choice of words allow. This is a wonderful write! Thanx -- peace --bf

Your flow is so tight...my heart is beat boxin' for my lips every time I read it. Thank you for the right write. Right? LK
