King of Weird

by Chris Sorrenti

I never pretended
to be what I can’t be
never intended babe
to lead you astray
surely you imagined
what you might be in for
knew someday
the pendulum would swing

Too many times
you’ve made me feel guilty
for having no choice
but be who I am
as once again
I hear the zig zag
calling out
to the king of weird

I never intended
to confuse you babe
never pretended
to hide the disease
we were attracted to one another
from parallel universes
curious to see the other side

And for a time
our love knew no boundary
in normalcy
you tried to wash me
with eccentricity
I blanketed your soul
remember the good times
as well as the bad
when you lived your life
with the king of weird

Wonderful write, Chris. It is a scenario with which I am quite familiar and sympathetic.

Under the bridge, the queen of chords -- long live the King.
