FreEdUm by George Hoernerstanding in a shower
trying to dissolve
75 years of grime
or maybe original sin
which was hardly original
then all the other
acceptable movements
that established todays mask
the façade of the day,
week, or life, depending
the immediate mental status
happy pills not with standing
the tears fall
for no particular reason
nothing changes
people starve, marry,
cheat others or themselves
work or not as long
as they are paid
want cops in every school
protest gun control or
hope a president dies
want cops dead
christians carry their bible
in the left hand
next to their heart
with their guns
at the ready in the right hand
vowing to hold them both
i do unto death
they shall protect
their freedoms

Posted by Rob Littler on 04/24/17 at 05:08 AM Maybe it is just me, but I feel like there is more before you quit in the second stanza. HMMM? Maybe the first stanza isn't done yet? I just want more is all. I like the image you create, the purpose of a shower amidst the purposelessness. |
