Coast to Coast AM by Chris Sorrenti
In memory of Art Bell
RIP 1945-2018
they only come on at night
and far better than counting sheep...
spanning the continent
through radio...remember radio?
once considered by some
as media passé
with the advent of rock videos
recall that song?
Video Killed The Radio Star
eat your hearts out VJs
this conscript has been converted back
580 on the AM dial
here in Ottawa
and if your local station
doesn’t carry the show
available world wide
via the Internet @
http://www.coasttocoastam.com/
no better way to open a channel
between the living and the dead...
prepare to fall asleep with the light on
if not up all night
when the show broadcasts as
Ghost to Ghost AM
on Halloween
callers phone in
their personal encounters
with the supernatural
lines open up
to those who’ve survived
Near-Death Experiences (NDEs)
not to mention
lots of other strange phenomena…
Big Foot’s a regular
when not upstaged
by aliens and their abductees
government conspiracies
by the planeload
(ever noticed those oddly colored
contrails in the sky?)
as well as a spattering
of all things current and event…
Y2K and 9/11
discussed ad infinitum
while Gulf War II
and the Columbia shuttle tragedy
now have tongues wagging
tune in for a listen
you won’t be disappointed
for the audio...and cerebral
roller Coaster to Coast ride of your life

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 11/28/16 at 04:51 PM Makes me want to tune in, Chris. Nothing like the human imagination adding to a voice over the radio speculating and wishing for the surreal and the extraordinary. Nice job. Very clever last line. Thanks! |
Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 11/30/16 at 03:04 PM Love your poem, and the concepts of the show... and now... it makes me feel like we are in the midst of a strange ghost to ghost here in the USA right now... a strange reality I hope IS ghost and perfect for disappearance. --Also and from another point of thought the radio idea is a perfect foil for all of this. We have a Poet's Cafe on our Public Radio here that is wonderful and can be heard worldwide online! We hope all are listening...Thanks for this thought provoking poem, Chris. |
