Beyond This Long And Winding Road

by Chris Sorrenti

    in memory of George Harrison
    RIP 1943-2001

see how bravely he rides
that dark horse
to meet eternal sunrise
where no cancer
will quell his mind
from continuing the song of life
nor slow his fingers
upon celestial guitar strings

and though our own instruments
of peace and love
may gently weep
we’ll be comforted in that
a long lost fellow troubadour
waits patiently to greet him

and together again they’ll write
knowing their band mates
will one day be along
to fill in the missing sounds
renew the legend
and let us then look forward
in acceptance of our own journey
into that sunrise
an endless repertoire waiting
to ride Heavenly turntables
upon angelic stage beyond
this long and winding road

Gentle and reassuring, a fine tribute, Chris.
