Dancer by Andrea ColtonAnd something moved within her,
the beating of a drum.
Bada, bada
Bada, bada;
A pulsing, thrashing,
heart-beat song.
Electricity shot through fingertips,
toes and open fists.
Sinew and muscle tore at bones
to lift them from their rift.
Legs are dying embers,
soul is set aflame.
Her head is held unsteady
-steady-
rocking with the blaze.
"You are nothing."
"...never enough..."
She moves through all the lies.
In the room, she dances.
in her heart, she flies.

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 09/17/16 at 04:00 AM Nice work Andrea. Evocative...stimulating read. I can definetly feel the dance in the words. |
Posted by Sarah George on 09/19/16 at 04:45 AM love this. this is powerful, in both design, and in the process that it evokes. keep dancing. |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 09/24/16 at 10:50 PM I love the rising up, re-energizing aspect to this dancer. "She moves through all the lies" - wonderful line of transformation. |
