And You Were Mine by Melissa Arel
And you were mine, if only for a little while.
Time stood still and so did my heart
every time you looked at me with those kind eyes.
Eyes that told a thousand stories and I wanted to listen
to every one of them, for they were a part of you.
And you were mine, if only for a moment.
The electricity that coursed through my veins
with every touch of your fingertip was addictive.
You were my drug of choice like coffee, warm and soothing
you awakened me, for I had forgotten how it felt to be loved.
But now I see you were never really mine at all.

Posted by Tim D Livingston on 04/01/17 at 05:41 PM Beautiful Melissa. Like the comparison to coffee. Sometimes it just hurts and it's that simple. And it's okay to not be okay. I like how your writing is maturing. Simplicity blended with elegant jolts of sensation. :) |
