Hurray For War! by Chris Sorrenti
the pen is mightier than the sword
but when the pen fails - go to war!
unfortunate indeed
fifty million paid the ultimate price
in the last big one
though through their sacrifice
mankind having made significant strides
microwave ovens / jet engines
to name but a few
slip it into the disc drive of your PC
plastic and Teflon
radar...television
that decades later
would bring home the true horrors of war
but the last big one
brought us one lasting gift
besides the atomic bomb
without which
peace treaties couldn’t be signed
a weapon known simply as
the ball point pen

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 06/13/16 at 03:59 PM Well, who knew! Why does the worst in us many times bring out the most inventive ideas? A curious thing, war. A unique poem, Chris. Thanks for this. |
