Paper Guitar

by Chris Sorrenti

We could have been Beatles
you’d have been Paul
and I’d have been John
but all I got was this paper guitar

paper guitar - paper guitar
all I got was this beautiful paper guitar

I’ll hide myself away in sixties groovy music
marvelling at The Byrds and Bob Dylan
but another day of four part harmony
and the guilt sets in again
cause you see it’s not the New Testament
and so I run to my paper guitar

We could have ruled the world
you’d have been Nancy Reagan
and I’d have been Ron
but all I got was this paper guitar

paper guitar - paper guitar
all I got was this beautiful paper guitar

I’ll hide myself away in the pages of The Bible
half understanding what I’ve read there
then a musician will innocently point out
what I couldn’t see
and so I run to my paper guitar

paper guitar - paper guitar
all I got was this beautiful paper guitar

how I love to listen to
play time and again
the notes of my paper guitar

Really intrigued by the Bible's role in this, certainly gives a contrast to what some might have considered temptations. Lots of dreaming in this one, strong flow, nicely inserted "paper guitar" chorus. Rocks!
