Field of Red Tulips by Kristina Woodhilli. dilation
a blinding of red crayons
all melted together on
a hot summer day
where no one
makes fun
of red heads
ii. outdoor revival
a mass even a non-catholic
might kneel before,
humbly bearing its beauty's cross
one red tulip
delicately cupped in trembling hands,
eyes begging to be mouth,
communion
ten thousand red tulips,
baptize me,
no, better yet,
let me drown
iii. so what
so vivid
Estee Lauder mutters
apologies
to Red Tango
so brash and loud
cardinals
rewrite their songs
so huge,
northern Washington,
your red postage stamp
sends me over
the moon

Posted by Laura Doom on 04/14/16 at 07:55 PM I think I felt that way at Keukenhof, appearing on a rapidly sliding chromatic scale and disappearing into the perfectly manicured undergrowth. |

Wow, this is terrific, chock full of vivid imagery. I love it. (P.S.: Thanks for reading my poetry too - so few do over here these days.) |
