Going And Going And

by George Hoerner

And they still go
The young women
Going to young men
Who in turn
Had to and continue
To go to war
And for as long
As time passes
They will continue to go
Until there is something called peace
But peace is not within reach
Nor even within sight
And since we have closed eyes
We aren’t even looking for it

What is Peace but a period needed to ripen the next harvest of War; and/or perhaps the reverse could argued as true. Do the two states then cancel each other out so that each is just another ordinary state of being; rest & unrest? I think we are looking for something that can't be found by either course of pursuit. Damned if we war, damned if we don't. I've never lived in a time where some nation on earth wasn't fighting over something, and I don't expect that will change - I'd be pleasantly surprised if it did.

All this to say: Ditto.

Much truth and wisdom here.

Elders send youngsters off go to war for to gather spoils and for no other reason. Because elders lack any other type currency to sustain themselves and keep their coffers full with the blood of the innocent young. Because elders do not comprehend how to create bounty via a processes of Peace, they will always shuffle their young blood off to conflict which is doomed any way we choose to view it. I was a young man once ready to be spent in the hands of some spoil, seeking elder. I was fortunate in that I slipped through his hands and have lived to tell this tale. Love your poem, my friend. It provokes much passion in me.
