Ride The Tiger by Chris Sorrenti
"He who rides the tiger's back, cannot get off"
- Chinese proverb
twenty-six hours one month
thirty-four the next
ride the tiger little one
though not so little anymore
and what be the cost
of those extra hours?
financial gain put aside
you may be sixty-five
when the department of grey hair
adds you to the payroll
but the tiger knows your real age
most of the time
your home sits empty
open only to receive dreams
never finding wings
in the rush of day
ride the tiger little one
ride the tiger to your grave

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 02/16/16 at 06:29 PM The tiger is a really effective metaphor for the work-alholic. "when the department of grey hair
adds you to the payroll" - great phrasing also. Thanks, Chris. |
