Female in tuition by Laura DoomNo, I didn't see it coming.
I've only recently learned how
to look into the past,
and have, as yet, no idea
what it is I'm looking at.
Seeing into the future
requires one to discover
how the other's mind works
which, of course, it doesn't.
Minds are lazy;
they speed-read emotion
with blind faith
like it's hard fact, then expect
their respective brains
to fill in the gaps
with the makeshift stuff
of dying dreams
and latent lovers.
It's a hard sell
that underwrites
the soft cells.
A poet would have seen it coming.

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 11/30/15 at 03:52 PM I really like how the first and last lines make this feel like a complete package. As always your fluency with word meanings expands my mind - great use of "tuition" as possibly instruction? teaching? seems to fit here for me, quite the juxtaposition for the traditional female intuition. S3 points at us all. S4 is a zinger. Thanks for this. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 11/30/15 at 10:32 PM Nice play on words in the title Laura...fun read. Maybe even Human in tuition, as I saw some of myself in this. |
