Lover's Lover

by Chris Sorrenti

Ping-ponged yo yo
Slippery little snake
Always on your way to something
Do you follow me straight?

Lover's lover
Little loner
Amidst your many friends
Quiet as a siren you are
Yet loud as the biggest stone

What you are
Is what I was
And when I change again
You'll get off on what I am
Then we’ll do it all again

I know you know
You think I know
That with me you're in time
But all you do is keep your distance

Someday we'll both be fine

A lively give and take of rhyme here, Chris. "Quiet as a siren you are Yet loud as the biggest stone" - terrific contrasts here. Of course, that third stanza is just fun to read out loud. You have successfully captured the elusive.
