Morning Epiphanies

by Chris Sorrenti

as the tinkling of
wind chimes
in expanding light
each sunrise brings
a jingle jangle morning
stirring body and mind
beneath the covers
to plant feet on floor
though maybe to
never pass this way again
when for
a few precious moments
a haunting clarity
comes forward
from the promises
of distant childhood
to mix evenly with
the new day at hand
sculpting one’s life
for better or worse
cleansing it of wrongs
and future
stretches ahead
as a canvas whose colors
have yet to be applied
can quickly change
depending on action
inaction
if brave enough
to face the rising sun
or turn away from it all
yet again

There's something inviting about the wind chimes beginning to this - the jingle jangle tinkling - kind of a song for getting loose each day, even tho' a wild wind could change the tone completely. This starts my day out thoughtfully and hopefully. Thanks, Chris!
